Knowledge Sharing, Risk Management and Mutual Benefit
On March 29, 2017, China Handy Bulk Alliance (CHBA) held its formation signing ceremony in the grand meeting room of Sinotrans CSC subsidiary Shanghai Changhang Shipping (Shanghai Changhang Shipping). In the presence of all participants, Shanghai Changhang Shipping, Jia Rong Shipping (also known as Dalian Tiger) and Maple Leaf declared the founding of CHBA.
The alliance will enable the member companies to share information, knowledge and experience, etc. so that all companies can learn from and exchange among each other to reduce the risk of fleet management, increase the efficiency of fleet operation and provide higher quality service to clients.
The founding members - Shanghai Changhang Shipping, Jia Rong Shipping and Maple Leaf have their own features and advantages which are complementary to each other.

Maple Leaf Shipping Group
Established in 1956, Maple Leaf is a private-owned shipowner, operator, ship management, ship building and repair group company. The Group controls a fleet of 24 ships from bulkers, tankers to containers. In her bulker fleet, there are 13 handysizes of over DWT30,000 each.

Shanghai Changhang Shipping
Sinotrans CSC set up the Company in Shanghai to be mainly engaged in the transportation of general cargo, heavy cargo, log, special cargo, chemicals and bulk cargo, etc. The Company owns, operates and manages a China flag special cargo transportation fleet wherein there are a series of DWT32,500 log carriers.
As the subsidiary of Sinotrans CSC Group, Shanghai Changhang Shipping has the innate advantage of the logistics business from its parent Group. As an integral part in the China Merchant Group, Sinotrans CSC enables Shanghai Changhang Shipping to enjoy a stronger financial support from China Merchant Leasing and other financial institutions within their Group.

Jia Rong Shipping
With over 20 years of history, Jia Rong Shipping is well recognized in the handysize industry. The Company currently has two DWT 28,000 handysizes and ten DWT 38,500 eco-handysizes co-designed with CSIC and built by Shanhaiguan Shipyard.
These new eco-ships started to operate in 2015. During these five years or so, the actual operation result is very close to the ones that are built by Japanese yard, thus enabling Jia Rong to keep her competitiveness in the current oversupply market. These 10 eco-vessels are all in the pool of the Alliance to strengthen the overall service to cargo owners.
